This week we will read Amigo Brothers by Piri Thomas.`All stories have similar parts.  As we read, we will focus on the setting, characters, plot and theme.  We will keep track of these elements to help us understand the story better.

Reminder: The graphic organizer for Amigo Brothers is due this Friday, April 1st.

Since last week we visited the website Foundations for Critical Thinking, for the next two weeks of class we will be reading the book Asking the Right Questions: A Guide to Critical Thinking by M. Neil Browne and Stuart M. Keeley.  In addition to reading the book, we will visit the online activities available to practice and apply the content of the book.  Here is the link for the book activities:

Congratulations to the presenter of "Is There A God?" from the book Philosophy for Dummies! Great summary!  With that we conclude the presentations from the book by Tom Morris, Ph.D.

This week we will continue reading from the website Foundations for Critical Thinking.  Since today we finished reading Miniature Guide for Students on How to Study and Learn, I will ask you tomorrow to state, elaborate, exemplify, and illustrate the foundational ideas that define the subjects (classes you are taking this semester) and its goals.  For example, in the reading they said that "Economics is the study of who gets what, when, and how," and that "Algebra is arithmetic with unknowns."

Today we read the life skills text "Right on the Money."  Tomorrow, you will take the Word Challenge from Workshop 5 and, if time allows, we may start writing the persuasive paragraph on money management and teens.
