Hello! I am very pleased to have wonderful individuals as my students this year, 2008-2009. I will take this opportunity to provide some background information as to how I became a teacher of ESOL/French/English.
I was born in Paris and grew up in the United States speaking French and English. My elementary and high school years were spent in Pennsylvania living with the Swiss part of my family on my father's side; my mother's family of Norwegian origin was in Minnesota. For college I moved to New York state to attend Cornell University where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Romance Studies, specializing in French and Italian. Following a year in France studying at the Universite d'Aix-Marseille I began my career in Vermont teaching French at a boarding school. Over 28 years before coming to Campbell I taught all levels of French in many situations - preschool through college, community classes, satellite broadcast courses, and one room schools. Along the way I received a Master of Arts in Teaching in the areas English, ESOL, and French from the School for International Training. I also married and had three children. I have taught in Vermont, Texas, Indiana, Georgia, and most recently in Morocco where I was privileged to be sent by the Fulbright Exchange Program of the Department of State. It has been my good fortune to have been associated with the students, faculty, administration, and support staff of Campbell High School for the past ten years where I have taught English, French, and primarily ESOL.
Now my daughters are grown and I have opportunities to visit them in New York and Australia. I maintain friendships with the Moroccan teachers who came to Smyrna. I love to read, study languages, garden, walk, and travel. I have interests in photography, painting, and writing which I hope to develop in the future.
I have been in teaching these many years because I love it. It is always a privilege to meet so many admirable students and adults; I find great fulfillment in the field of education. I treasure the memories I have of so many fine people.
