Bi-Weekly Folders & Websites for Extra Practice!

Parents be on the lookout for your child's personal folder that will be sent home every two weeks, on Monday. In this folder will be your child's classwork and progress reports. We ask that when you receive these folders that you sign and date the front of the envelope and return it to school with your child.

Friday - February 10th, 2012

Hello class! Today we reviewed our notes, and then took our first quiz for this unit. There is no homework assigned for this weekend. However, if you check your Pinnacle and discover that you have a missing assignment(s) then please complete this over the weekend. Missing Assignments = Poor Grades! Also, for parents please be on the look out for the parents folder which we will be sending home on Monday. Please everyone have a safe and relaxing weekend, and we look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Thursday - February 9th, 2012

Today we began class by completing a warm-up that was a mix of old/new material. When we were finished each student was given a worksheet that will act as a time-line for the rest of this unit. Under each category was 1-3 example problems which we reviewed in class today. Afterwards we pased out Radical Equations - Part 2 to begin working on. Please finish this for homework if you did not have a chance to finish it today in class.  

Wednesday - February 8th, 2012

Today in class we took another timed integer quiz, and afterwords Mr. Bartlett explained why grades suddenly seemed "low" in pinnacle. Afterwards, we took notes on how to handle the operations of exponents and radicals in equations. For practice students were to form pairs of 2 and complete both A and B section of their worksheet. Now due to shortened class period today many of you did not get the chance to finish your partner work. We will pick up from where we left off today at a later time.

Tuesday - February 7th, 2012

Today's agenda we continued our work on solving two step equations. If you have any assignments over the past 2 days which have not yet been completed. Then please do this for homework tonight! Everything will be collected in the beginning of class tomorrow, and we will continue our work with solving equations. Tomorrow we will introduce equations that involve square roots for those of you who would like to get ahead with your studying.

Monday - February 6th, 2012

Hello Class. Today we passed back previous assignments including last week's TEST which I am please to say a lot of you did well on. However, I was disappointed to see that many students failed to complete their 2-step equation worksheet which promptly caused many students grades to drop. So, today as a review of last week and preparation for this week we worked on this worksheet in class today. For those of you who turned it in I will replace your previous (bad) grade with this new one. If you did not finish this in class today then you will need to complete it tonight for homework! See you tomorrow.

Friday - February 3rd, 2012

Hello class, sorry for the delay. On Friday, Ms. Tatum led an exercise using the hands-on-equations balance scales. You completed 6 questions using these manipulatives. When you were finished you were given a worksheet to reinforce the concepts we have been studying so far. This worksheet will be collected on Monday. Have a great weekend!

Thursday - February 2nd, 2012

Today students we continued our work with solving equations. We began by reviewing yesterdays work. As well as discussing the correct notation of mathematics, so that we could improve our mathematics writing over the remainder of the semester. Afterwards we discussed 2 step equations, and the correlation between solving equations and order of operations. After taking notes a worksheet was passed out to practice with. If you did not finish this worksheet in class today then you will need to do this for homework tonight. It will be collected tomorrow for a grade! Also, WE WILL BE VIDEO TAPING TOMORROW. So, if you HAVE NOT brought back your permission to video by tomorrow at the beginningof the class period then alternative arrangements will be made for you.

Wednesday - February 1st, 2012

Today we began our new unit after yesterday's test. This month we will be learning how to solve one/two/multi-step equations, different ways of factoring, and gain exposure to topics in Math 2 that make use of these tasks. We began this unit by taking notes on solving one step equations in relation to order of operations, and we provided a pictorial model of our equations. Afterwards we answered 14 questions to practice our skills. These practice questions were collected at the end of the class period (with the exception of 2nd block). There is no homework assigned for tonight other than to bring in your manila envelope (signed), video permission form, and your Math 2 textbook if you have not already done so. We will see you tomorrow as we continue our studies.

Tuesday - January 31st, 2012

TEST TODAY! Tomorrow we will begin our unit on solving equations. For those of you who did not get your manila envelope signed by your parents then you MUST do this tonight, and turn it in tomorrow. Also, Ms. Tatum will be filming on Friday, and so this is your last chance to get your permission to video forms signed and turned in.

Monday - January 30th, 2012

DON'T FORGET YOU HAVE A TEST TOMORROW, BE SURE TO STUDY!!! Also, as a reminder today we divided into groups, and reviewed all types of questions for tomorrow's test. Be sure to review all your notes and feel free scourer this blog for extra practice.

Also, as a reminder today we sent home parent packets with each student today. In each packet is a copy of your progress report, permission to video form, and any previous work we have collected thus far. Students do not forget your parents to sign the outside of your manila envelope, and the permission to video form. These will be both due tomorrow the day of your test.
