Share what's inteOn April 30, 2012 between 4 - 6pm, Girl Up will bring the Unite for
Girls Tour to Atlanta. The event will be hosted at the Atlanta Girls'
School (3254 Northside Parkway Northwest). The first half of the event
will be provide a multimedia and experiential opportunity for teen girls
to "travel" the world with a passport in hand and visit Ethiopia,
Guatemala, Liberia and Malawi while learning how it feels to be a girl
in a developing country. The second half of the event will highlight the
issue of child marriage and feature the following parts:
Musical guests: Recognizable youth pop stars Megan & Liz will energize
the audience and get them ready to learn about issues facing girls
worldwide and what they can do to help.
Keynote: Spelman University's President Beverly Tatum will talk about
the importance of investing in girls and Atlanta-based engagement
Film: A featured video presentation will show the stories of real girls
who have become child brides and the impact of such an experience
Panel: Respected experts from CARE, the Child Marriage Coalition and
10x10 plus one of Girl Up's Teen Advisors will provide their
perspectives on the issues, followed by a conversation and Q&A
Performance: The Ron Clark Academy's Essentials Step Team will close
with a high-energy performance
